The evocative and inspiring Israel Truth Week logo was designed in February 2012 by professional graphic artist/photographer David Strutt of Canada who generously donated his time to create a number of designs which were shared with a group of pro-Israel activists consisting of Jews and non-Jews who eventually chose the ‘candle/flame’ design. This comment perhaps best captures the symbolism they saw in the design:
“The light frames the whole argument as Israel being the light in the mid-East as to how to treat people. It is the light in the midst of darkness, the hope in the midst of despair, it is freedom in the midst of dictatorships, it is the peace in the midst of the violence, it is the Truth in the midst of lies…” — Gary McHale, Founder of Canadian Advocates for Charter Equality (CANACE)
Strutt’s masterpiece embraces the Jews and Arabs who call Israel home, and it symbolizes, for the rest of us, the bright light of courage and decency and hope she represents in a hostile world that sometimes seems so determined to extinguish it.
In addition to creating the inspiring Israel Truth Week logo, David agreed to donate his services in order to be the official photographer for the first Israel Truth Week Conference in London Ontario on March 21, 2012.
